Why KYZATREX?
KYZATREX is designed to restore testosterone levels in men with hypogonadism
KYZATREX® (testosterone undecanoate) CIII capsules are designed to help restore testosterone levels in men with hypogonadism. It is an effective, easy-to-take option for men who want to avoid the hassles of injections, compounded creams, or the mess of topical gels. In clinical trials, KYZATREX has been shown to help 96% of patients achieve normal testosterone levels within 90 days.
How KYZATREX Works
Delivering testosterone through an oral capsule
KYZATREX delivers testosterone through an oral capsule that bypasses the liver’s first-pass metabolism by being absorbed through the lymphatic system. This avoids the risk of liver damage while still providing stable testosterone levels with consistent twice-daily use. Just two capsules with food can restore testosterone to normal levels and help maintain them.
KYZATREX vs. Other TRT Options
How does KYZATREX compare?
KYZATREX is an appealing alternative to injectable or topical testosterone therapies. Traditional methods like injections, compounded creams, or gels can be inconvenient, uncomfortable, or disruptive to daily life. KYZATREX offers the flexibility of an oral treatment while maintaining effective and stable testosterone levels. Additionally, no patients in clinical trials experienced complications like erythrocytosis (excess red blood cells), which is a common concern with other TRT methods.
Frequently Asked Questions About KYZATREX™
How much does KYZATREX cost at Men’s Healthspan?
At Men’s Healthspan, KYZATREX is available for $179 per month. This price is based on a typical 200mg twice-daily dose. The medication and all follow-up appointments are included. Although slightly more expensive than injections or creams, many find Kyzatrex worth the extra price for its convenience.
How is KYZATREX different from other forms of TRT?
KYZATREX is taken orally, making it a non-invasive option compared to injections, compounded creams, or topical gels. It also closely follows the body’s natural testosterone production rhythms, providing stable testosterone levels throughout the day.
Do I need to take KYZATREX with food?
Yes, KYZATREX must be taken twice daily with food to ensure proper absorption.
Is KYZATREX safe for long-term use?
KYZATREX has undergone extensive clinical testing to demonstrate its safety for long-term use, provided that patients are regularly monitored for blood pressure and prostate health.
Does KYZATREX have an impact on prostate health?
Men with existing prostate issues may experience worsening of symptoms, so it is important to monitor prostate health throughout treatment.
Can KYZATREX Achieve Testosterone Levels as High as Injections or Compounded Creams?
The answer is maybe, although the study results limited the testing of this because doses were titrated to keep testosterone levels within a predetermined range. When testosterone levels exceeded 900 ng/dL during titration, dosages were adjusted downward. In the KYZATREX Phase III trial, 87.7% of participants maintained testosterone levels (Cmax) below 1,200 ng/dL, with only 3.8% exceeding 1,440 ng/dL. The study dosages ranged from 100 mg to 800 mg daily. The average serum testosterone concentration was 452 ng/dL, and the average Cmax (peak testosterone level) was 852.4 ng/dL.
While KYZATREX provides effective normalization of testosterone levels, peak testosterone concentrations with KYZATREX are generally not as high as those achieved with compounded creams or injections. However, KYZATREX’s stable and gradual testosterone absorption is highly effective for most patients, offering a reliable treatment option without the need for injections or twice-per-day creams. For those needing higher peak testosterone levels for symptom resolution, injections or compounded creams may be more suitable, but KYZATREX offers a convenient and consistent alternative for many men.
How Common is Low Testosterone?
Low testosterone is a widespread but under-treated condition
Approximately 30% of men over the age of 20 experience low testosterone levels, which can have significant effects on their overall health and quality of life. Despite its prevalence, only about 5-10% of men with low testosterone are currently receiving treatment. This gap in treatment highlights the importance of accessible, effective options like KYZATREX for addressing testosterone deficiency.
Safety and Side Effects: Heart Health, Prostate Health, and More
Cardiovascular Safety: Insights from the TRAVERSE Study
The TRAVERSE study, the largest randomized clinical trial of TRT to date, examined testosterone’s effects on heart health. The study included over 5,200 men aged 45-80 with documented low testosterone and pre-existing cardiovascular disease or high cardiovascular risk. Key findings from the TRAVERSE study include:
- TRT did not increase the risk of major cardiovascular events, including heart attacks or strokes, compared to placebo.
- Participants in the testosterone group had similar rates of secondary cardiovascular issues, such as strokes, as those in the placebo group.
- Blood pressure was a key safety concern, and KYZATREX, like other testosterone treatments, can increase blood pressure. Therefore, regular blood pressure monitoring is necessary while on KYZATREX.
Prostate Health and Testosterone
TRT has long been associated with concerns about prostate health, particularly the risk of prostate cancer. In the TRAVERSE study:
- There was no significant difference in the incidence of prostate cancer or high-grade prostate issues between the testosterone-treated group and the placebo group.
- Testosterone-treated men did see slightly higher PSA levels at 12 months, but this increase was not significant after one year.
- KYZATREX includes a warning about the potential for worsening benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which can cause symptoms like difficulty urinating or frequent nighttime urination.
